I am a very healthy person. Working out is important to me. Every time I go on the road, I check to see if the hotel has a gym. Most hotel websites will post photos of their gym online so that you can inspect ahead of time if the equipment is up to par with what you need to get a good workout in.

The gear that you wear when you workout needs to be made of wicking material.
When I go on the road, I make sure that I’m fully prepared. Here is my list!:
- A pair of long Adidas workout pants
- A pair of spandex shorts
- A sports bra
- A tank top or wicking shirt
- A pair of ankle socks
- Workout gloves
- Sneakers (See my earlier post for the Nikes that pack well
- Hairbands
Don’t pack any leotards like the ridiculous photo in this post!! hehe I had to post this for the mere humor! Leotards!! what year is this?!
The Adidas running suit pants are ideal for changing into when hanging out in the hotel room. They are comfy, warm and very quick to dry. I slip them over my shorts for modesty when walking around the hotel to find my gym.
Some tips:
- Make sure your hotel offers the gym for free. Some charge a fee to use the facilities! (the nerve!)
- Check out your hotel’s facilities online first. Some hotels offer very poor facilities with only one cardio machine and no free weights. Also some workout rooms are merely a hotel room converted, making it claustrophobic and a little scary inside late at night or early morning
- The water in the workout room is free and it’s filtered! Don’t buy the $5 bottle of water in your hotel room! Use what’s free! I carry a Nalgene bottle on my travels and fill it up in the workout facility for free
- Be cognizant of when you decide to work out. If you are on the west coast, early mornings are bad because east coasters love to work out at the crack of dawn from the time difference! Try working out later in the evening
